Bio Architecture Lab Partnerships Statoil
BAL and Statoil have partnered to develop and commercialize technology to produce ethanol from Norwegian seaweed in Norway.


Bio Architecture Lab Partnerships DuPont
BAL and DuPont were awarded a $9m grant from the Department of Energy's ARPA-E program for the production of butanol from macroalgae. This $18m project is the largest ARPA-E project in the country.

Butamax is a joint venture between DuPont and BP for the commercialization of the technology.



Bio Architecture Lab Partnerships CORFO
BAL and the Universidad de Los Lagos were awarded a $7.5m grant by the InnovaChile CORFO through “Convocatoria Nacional de Consorcios Technológicos Empresariales de Investigación en Biocombustible a partier de micro y macro algas” for the biofuels production from Macrocystis pyrifera, native seaweed to Chile.
